Pistons - 90 - 108 L
Sasser, Ivey, Brown Jr. Evbuomwan, Duren
First play of the game again for Sasser
Some REALLY rough transition defense as Stevens just has dunk after dunk in the 1st quarter
Blaha - “Forgettable 1st half for the Pistons in Memphis”......Kelser “can’t get over soon enough”
That’s all that needs to be said about this 1st half performance outside of the Ivey made 3Ps
15 FIRST HALF TURNOVERS!
Come out of halftime and immediately give up 4 points
Grizz score on first 4 possessions and Pippen Jr. is just carving the up
IVEY 3P shot does look good on some attempts
Would be really interesting to track all of his attempts throughout the season and see if there is something that stands out with his makes
Ability to step in off the catch with the space is the one I would guess BUT that’s just a guess
Knocks down his first 2 attempts
MAKE IT 3!!....NOW 4….UP TO 5 IN THE 1ST HALF and hits his first 3PA of the 2nd half
We have seen him go on stretches and have games where he does shoot it really well
Not perfect BUT this is a really nice start after his performance last game (continues into the 3rd quarter)
Has 20 of the teams 31 points here halfway through the 2nd quarter
I like that he is trying to connect on these lobs out of the PnR, just hasn’t been able to
10:40 3rd Quarter, I LOVE THE PATIENCE, beautiful execution
Knocks down a mid range jumper and we have now seen him score from all 3 levels in this one
If Flynn was the only positive from last game, Ivey is absolutely the only positive so far from this one
Still had a few rough TOs and misses at the rim but overall it was good to see a positive response
EVBUOMWAN continues to be aggressive attacking closeouts, wish he would finish them off a little better
Really nice block in transition where he recovers after initially trying to setup to take a charge
FLYNN misses first 2 FGAs and has a turnover after the incredible game in his last outing
Looks like he might not have the shooting touch tonight
And he has got some really, really good looks
Has missed his first 9 shots of the game…make it 10, finishes 0-12 from the field
Didn’t think the process was bad but just didn’t make shots
WISEMAN with some nice rim protection here in the 1st half
NOWELL with a smooth looking shot fake and 1,2 dribble pull up jumper for his first points as a Piston
DUREN has been a non factor thus far in the 1st half….much of the same to start the 3rd
There is a nice finish through contact on the PnR
Okay, here is some life from him later in the quarter
SASSER has also been a complete non factor thus far…..(same as Duren)
Grizzlies
Pippen Jr., Goodwin, LaRavia, Jackson, Jemison
JACKSON with a couple of really nice drive and finishes here early
Follows it up with a C&S 3PM
Shooting 36% from 3 on really good volume
LARAVIA has been pretty aggressive off the bounce
He has done some really nice things but just haven’t finished off plays by making the shot
JEMISON has been ACTIVE, VERY active
Skill level just isn’t really there
STEVENS just going to take the game over, I guess
Been an absolute dunk fest for him in the 1st quarter
Just bullying his way to the rim in the HC
PIPPEN JR. with some very active hands defensively (had LOTS of impactful defensive plays)
Showing some stuff offensively coming out of halftime
Including a couple 3PM AND a mid range pull up
GOODWIN has been kind of interesting
MAOZINHA PEREIRA even getting involved
Transition lob finish, hits a 3P to put them up 18
Played for the Capitanes in the G League for the majority of the season
Now he gets an and-one
Good for him, you can see from the emotion from him that this is very meaningful for him
