Game Breakdown

Pistons

• Cade, Ivey, Bojan, Knox, Duren

  • MONTY continues to run actions that I like for shooters

    • Usually for Bojan right now

    • USED BOJAN GRAVITY to open driving lane for Cade late

    • Nice ATO mid 4th that gets Cade an open mid range

  • GO ZONE for a few possessions and it did actually change the flow of the game

  • BALL SCREEN DEFENSE was pretty good early in this game

    • Ivey 2nd effort

    • Duren communicating ICE and executing it

    • Bojan help and recover

• IVEY epitome of defensive impact and growth

  • 2nd effort to get back in front after getting hung up on a ball screen AND THEN gives another effort and blocks a shot from behind on Banchero drive

  • HIS PASSES ARE JUST SO OFF TARGET

• AUSAR getting so many more PnR reps AND I LOVE IT!!!

  • His handle is so loose though, this HAS to improve

  • HE WAS AWESOME PLAYING ALONG THE BASELINE

    • CUTS and OREBs

  • 8-10 Foot fadeaway still looks good

  • I THINK HE NEEDS TO DEVELOP THE “DRAYMOND DHO”

  • His defensive disruption was back on full display in this one

• BOJAN has started to have some pretty brutal TOs

• CADE defense straight up needs to improve

  • Good possession on Banchero

    • He continues to give us ISOLATED possessions in games

  • The offensive load isn’t AS heavy anymore (Ivey and Bojan and spacing)

  • It is time for him to make strides here on a nightly basis 

  • I know his rim finishing numbers don’t make it look this bad but I think this is an area of growth for him right now

    • He HAS to figure out these nuance/finesse finishes

Magic

• Fultz, Suggs, Wagner, Banchero, WCJ

  • LOVE HEARING HOW VOCAL A MAGIC ASST IS CALLING OUT DEFENSIVE SCOUT STUFF

    • Burks Stepback

    • Spain (stack) PnR 

    • Yelling “over” on Sasser PnR Handler ball screens

• BANCHERO just BULLIES his way to the rim

• WAGNER does it with a little more finesse AND he is such a good off the ball cutter

  • Is he the best off the ball cutter in the NBA?

  • He just worked them knocking down 3s and then working his way to the rim at the pace he does so well

    • Plays with nuance in ball screens

  • Has such soft touch in the 2nd level

• SUGGS is a player I am going to buy into 

  • I really like the way he is playing right now and the confidence

  • The shooting form has always looked good to me

  • Maybe he peaks as a 3rd guard? But he is a good NBA player

• ANTHONY is struggling right now and this is a guy they need to play well and give them juice off the bench

• M. WAGNER continues to look like one of the better backup bigs in the NBA

• ISAAC is also a player I really like when I watch them play

  • He is a NBA rotation wing/forward, especially with his defensive disruption impact

• FULTZ did not look particularly good in this one

• HARRIS was a really good vet for them in this game

  • Made some 3s and good defensive impact
